Telephone Interpreters
The Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) is run by the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship. TIS helps people who do not speak English communicate with the Australian Government.TIS is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is accessible from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local call on 131 450. TIS can access 120 different languages and dialects.
National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters
The National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) is a national body that sets standards for, and accredits, translators and interpreters. NAATI is jointly owned by the Australian Government, state governments and territory governments.The NAATI Hotline can be contacted on 1300 557 470 within Australia or you can search their directory of practitioners online through their Practitioner's Directory.
