What is an ACAT and how does it work?
Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACATs or ACAS in Victoria) (more information) are teams of health professionals who assess your care needs and help you access appropriate services.
ACATs may be located at a hospital or community centre and may include:
- Geriatricians (doctors who specialise in treating older people) or other medical specialists
- nurses
- social workers
- occupational therapists, and
- psychologists or physiotherapists.
Is there anything to pay?
There is nothing to pay. An assessment by an ACAT is free.
