Help with aged care homes

Common question

Question: What sort of accommodation and care is available in residential aged care homes?
Answer: Aged care homes offer low-level care, high-level care, ageing in place or extra-service. High-level care is provided for people with very complex care needs, while low-level care provides support and assistance to people who have varying care needs, but do not have ongoing complex needs. Ageing in place caters for both high-level and low-level care and allows residents whose needs increase from low-level to high-level care to remain the same aged care home. Extra-service homes provide additional accommodation benefits, for a higher fee than a regular aged care home. This might include larger rooms, private ensuites and wider meal selection Care will be no different than a home not charging the extra-service fees.
