Common question

Question: What if I can no longer cope with being a carer?
Answer: Call 1800 200 422 during business hours or, for emergency respite support outside standard business hours, call 1800 059 059. You can talk to someone about carer support and information on how you can better manage the care needs of the person you are caring for. You can ask for information about having a break from caring. Your doctor may be able to let you know if a referral to an Aged Care Assessment Team (more information) might be necessary for more formal care arrangements either in the person's home or in a residential aged care home.
