Common question

Question: What services are available for older people from culturally diverse backgrounds who are in need of aged care?
Answer: Many agencies now have services for people from diverse cultural or linguistic backgrounds and offer culturally sensitive care – for example, catering to specific diets, activities, languages or spiritual needs. Contact your local Commonwealth Carelink Centre or community organisation to find out which services are available in your region. The Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care Program enables aged care homes and ethnic communities to work together to establish and maintain links between residents of aged care homes and their social, cultural and linguistic networks. There is a co-ordinator for this program in each state or territory.
