Chronic disease

Chronic diseases are long-term ongoing conditions which can occur at any stage in life, are more prevalent in older age, and lead to a gradual deterioration of health impacting on quality of life with physical limitations and disability. Examples include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cancer, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, mental illness, osteoporosis. Many are preventable and treatable.
